Join us for an evening of other-worldly temptations inspired by the short stories of Spanish Gothic author Gustavo Adolfo Becquer.
ABOUT THE SHOW
A marquis falls into a feverish obsession after glimpsing a pair of emerald eyes at the bottom of a forbidden pool. Follow him as he sets out to find those beautiful eyes… and the creature they belong to.
A young countess has challenged her cousin to retrieve her love token from a haunted graveyard but it’s past midnight and he hasn’t returned yet. That night, her chamber is visited by an evil presence…
Becquer's Legends is a brand-new show based on some of the most famous Gothic stories in Spanish literature. Combining storytelling and choreography with a haunting sound design, Legends explores the identity and cultural turmoil of a bilingual expat whilst offering audiences a glimpse into Spanish culture and history.

Show duration: 55 minutes.
Set: one small chair / two chairs (provided by the venue).
Space requirements:
- 2m width x 1m depth minimum.
- can be performed on any flat surface, including public spaces and alternative venues.
- the show includes ground-level performance so tiered seating would be beneficial.
- audience and stage layout can be proscenium or thrust.
- team of 3 (2x performers, technician).
- heavy use of sound design + haze.
- 3 hour get-in / 30 minutes get-out.
